See what our customers say about grass fed Easyrams

Grass fed EasyRams supply the most cost effective Terminal and Maternal rams currently available to UK Sheep Farmers. A combination of long life, tremendous tupping capacity, sound legs and feet and the ability to maintain their Body Condition means that these rams hold an unrivalled position in the UK.

In terms of longevity we expect all our Shearling maternal rams to work for a minimum of 4 seasons though many of them are remaining active well beyond that date. The reasons for their longevity are partly genetic and partly due to their management.

In terms of genetics our flock would normally expect ewes to have 5 or 6 crops of lambs and our all grass managed EasyRam tups eat no concentrates ever so will not have excessive fat within their bodies increasing body temperature resulting in impaired fertility or shortened lives due to kidney fat etc.

Our confidence in our rams is so great that we offer a “TWO SERVICE SEASON WARRANTY” against death from natural causes on all our maternal rams so that if a ram bought in 2020 dies before 31 Dec 2021 he will be replaced FOC.
Most people find the suggested ram to ewe ratio of 1/125 for shearlings and older and 1/70 for Ram Lambs hard to believe. The evidence from our customers quoted proves that our claims are easily attainable and readily exceeded.

Some are concerned that by reducing ram numbers the lambing period will be too long.  quoted proves that our claims are easily attainable and readily exceeded. Some are concerned that by reducing ram numbers the lambing period will be too long.

The reason for this is that for very many generations New Zealand sheep farmers and Stud Ram Breeders have expected a ram to serve very large numbers of ewes in a single 17 day cycle. Rams that cannot meet these requirements are quickly removed from the breeding flocks – it is truly a system of the survival of the fittest.
For those wanting even more use out of a ram during his lifetime our Ram Lambs will easily serve 60/70 ewes in a single cycle and thus give you an even more cost effective ram over his whole lifetime.

The final point of difference between our pure NZ rams is their proven ability to grow and thrive solely on a forage based diet. This means that when you buy a Maternal or Terminal EasyRam he will be fit and not fat he will be a truly grass fed ram bred from generations of grass fed rams and ewes. He will serve a single ewe and quickly move on hunting out the next ewe coming into season.. At the same time he will eat grass and maintain his body condition throughout the whole of tupping period.

We have rams on farms from Orkney to Bodmin Moor in Cornwall and on every hill range in between and everywhere EasyRams will perform in exactly the same way.
