EasyRam NZ Terminal Sufftex Rams, Grass Fed. Outdoor Born.
NZ Bred EasyRam Sufftex rams have the same name as some UK counterparts but that is all. They are a stabilised composite developed over many generations and recognised as a proper breed in NZ not a mere UK F1 first cross bred that combines the problems of both original UK breeds.

STOP PRESS
In most recent RAM COMPARE trial results a SufftexT had the highest meat content in the gigot of all rams used.
Sufftex is NZ’s No 1 Terminal sire.
We offer 2 types of Sufftex rams, both of which combine the virtues of the two breeds Sufftex S is approx. 80% Suffolk and 20% Texel. A slightly thicker version of the NZ Suffolk with a dark brown face. Sufftex T is approx. 80% Texel and 20% Suffolk. It is likely to be a bit longer than the Texel and is a light or white faced ram with grey marks on face and legs.
Mules.
Sufftex is the preferred choice for use on mules of all types due to its increased growth and improved meat yield. A Sufftex T used on a lioght faced mule produces lambs that are assumed to be Texel X. A dark faced Sufftex S used on dark faced mules produces lambs that are thought to be Suffolk X.

Texel X Ewes (particularly Texel X Mules)
UK Texel X ewes are very popular, but after the first cross there are increasing lambing issues due to smaller pelvices. The NZ Sufftex is the perfect out cross for first or particularly second Texel X ewes, producing an easily born lamb that looks just like a UK Texel X in the live ring.
Welsh.
Easily born hardy lambs with high survival rates. Sufftex S rams produce tan coloured lambs and Sufftex T produce white face lambs out of Welsh Mountain ewes.
Lleyns.
Very popular for use on Lleyn ewes particularly in large scale outdoor lambing flocks. Much quicker to finish (anecdotally 4 weeks earlier and 2 Kgs heavier than a pure ewe). Extra length and much faster growth rates resulting in earlier finishing and heavier lambs compared to pure lleyns.

SELECTED NZ SUFFTEX RAM TERMINAL TRAITS
Your NZ EasyRam Sufftex Shearling rams and ram lambs will sire lambs that will always finish quicker off grass and make you more PROFIT than their UK equivalents BECAUSE:
a) NZ stud farmers have deliberately bred sheep with Bigger Rumens to digest more grass and produce quicker growing sheep. The rumen is the engine and Grass is the “diesel” for sheep production.
b) NZ sheep are more Aggressive grazers than their UK equivalents. Maximum grass growth is achieved by intensive stocking and rotational grazing, which requires sheep to be densely stocked on a small area of grass for a short time and then moved to a fresh paddock. Aggressive grazing is key to sheep thriving under this management system.
c) NZ sheep are used to grazing in Large Groups. Superior performers are those that can perform in large mobs near other sheep. All NZ sheep have been run in exceptionally large groups for many decades. Kiwi farmers believe this ability to be more important than being reared in a hard environment.
d) Science. Kiwi ram breeders were the first adopters of scientific performance recording and so bred successive generations of sheep that outperformed the parents in terms of functionality and saleable meat, increasing their client’s bottom-line year on year.
